Your Relaxing Pre-Shoot Routine

How you prepare the morning of your shoot can set the tone for your shoot experience.  I want you to arrive at the studio feeling relaxed, excited, and feeling in tune with your body.

Feeling some nervousness before your shoot is totally normal and quite frankly, it’s expected!

Feeling nervous before your shoot is a sign that you care and that you are anticipating the life-changing empowerment that is coming your way.

The most important thing to do when you feel those nerves is to breathe and trust me, your photographer, to guide you through the process.

A super simple way to set yourself up for success is to practice an intentional morning routine before your shoot.

This will help you calm your nervous system and be fully present for your experience.

To allow your inner goddess to come alive…

In this post, I’m going to share with you a relaxing pre-shoot routine to help inspire a self-loving morning…

#1: Get a solid 8 hours of sleep (or more!) the night before. This may sound silly but it will do wonders for your energy levels and complexion in your images!

#2: Give yourself plenty of time to get ready. If possible, leave yourself a few hours to get ready for your shoot. When we are in rush, we are often forgetful, anxiety-ridden, and late. Do yourself a favor and give yourself plenty of time to prepare.

#3: Hydrate, hydrate, Hydrate. Ideally, you’ll be hydrating the weeks leading up to your session and in addition to that, the morning of your shoot is an important time to hydrate as well. Hydrating helps your body move more flexibly from pose to pose and helps your skin appear more plump and radiant.

#4: Eat a nourishing breakfast. So many women think that skipping breakfast the morning of their shoot will help them appear slimmer in their images. The truth is, it doesn’t and it only makes you feel lethargic and tired halfway through your session. You will be far more energized and comfortable throughout shoot time if your body is properly nourished.

#5: Practice your normal skincare routine. Your skincare routine can be a refreshing self-care practice if we allow it to be. Some mornings I rush through it so quickly that I forget it even happened! On session day, take the time to move through your skincare routine with extra intention and care. This will help you feel more connected with your body and ready to get all glammed will with Hair and Makeup.

#6: Repeat these affirmations. When I am feeling nervous, affirmations always help me filter through my stirring thoughts and ground myself in the present moment. My favorite affirmations to repeat to channel self-love are: “I am worthy of giving and receiving love”, “I love and honor my body for all it does for me”, and “today, I choose me”.

#7: Get ready to slay your shoot and BREATHE. Once you’ve prepared for your shoot, the only thing left to do is to show up to the studio and allow me to guide you through the rest. You are going to be blown away by your strength, power, and beauty during shoot time and when you see your final images.

Babe, let’s do this…
