Myth #1) Boudoir is just about taking sexy photos.
False! Your boudoir session is about much more than just taking sexy photos. Although, we will definitely be doing lots of that! Your photo shoot is just as much about empowering you as it is about celebrating your physical beauty.
Myth #2) I won’t recognize myself in my images.
False! Despite the professional hair & makeup and luxurious outfits, you will still recognize yourself in your final images. Our goal is not to change anything about you, but rather to highlight your natural beauty. We encourage you to get creative with how you showcase your uniqueness in your photos. For some women, this means bringing in a piece of jewelry that is meaningful to them, an article of clothing from their partner’s closet, or keeping their glasses on in their images.
Myth #3) I have to wear skimpy lingerie.
False! There is no rulebook for your boudoir wardrobe pieces! You can dress as modestly or as un-modestly as you’d like to! Some women choose to wear an oversized sweater or dress, while others choose to be nude for their whole photo shoot! The only thing that matters is that you are comfortable in your outfits and that they are flattering on the camera! Not sure what is flattering on the camera? Don’t worry about that! we’ll be sending you wardrobe prep materials to guide you through the process of selecting the perfect wardrobe pieces.
Myth #4) I have to lose weight before my photo shoot.
False! Whatever weight you are right now is absolutely perfect for your boudoir photo shoot. There is no need to lose that extra 10 lbs or any weight for that matter. We all feel pressured at times to be “skinnier” or to have a weight loss goal that we are working towards, but your photo shoot is about celebrating who you are right now. We want to show you how to feel comfortable in your own skin, no matter your size or shape.
Myth #5) I have to be naked in my photos.
False! Nudity is completely optional! Being nude in your images is a step out of most people’s comfort zone and it’s something that you should feel a desire to explore before doing so. In the studio, we encourage exploration and listening to your boundaries. For some women, choosing to go nude in their images is a way to deepen their self-confidence which can serve as a powerful tool for empowerment. However, you should only go nude in your images if it feels safe!
Myth #6) My photos will be shared with the world.
False! All of the images we share online are of women who chose to share their photos to help spread our mission of empowerment. Your photos will only be shared online if you give the studio permission to do so. None of your images will be viewed by anyone other than you and the studio unless you say otherwise.
