As a boudoir photographer, I know how boudoir can be a rewarding experience. But as a potential client, I know having the spotlight on you can be intimidating.

The beauty of a boudoir shoot is having the opportunity to get to realign with yourself. Plus the prep before the shoot works like a meditation to help you get in the zone.

Our Montana boudoir photo shoots are different from any other way of indulging yourself. The experience is the perfect recipe for ultimate relaxation and getting in tune with yourself.

But what does boudoir exactly entail?

Some parts of boudoir are different depending on the client.

At the same time, some of the most exciting elements of boudoir are what stays the same from client to client. Who doesn’t love consistency?

The right environment can make channeling your confidence easy. A location should offer you an opportunity to get your mind in the proper head space for your session.

That is why destination shoots are perfect. It offers a different experience than a regular studio session.

They are somewhere a little more unfamiliar than regular shoots. I do my best to choose locations that are serene and picturesque. So you can get out of your head and focus on being in tune with your environment and yourself.

My upcoming destination shoot is in Whitefish, Montana. I’ll be there from Thursday, October 13 to Saturday, October 15.

There are many elements to our boudoir sessions that make the experience exhilarating. But, the specifics that make each client different—from the wardrobe, makeup, and hair—are the most exciting part to me.

Lake Boudoir is a little different from our typical sessions for a few reasons…

How do you prepare the morning of your shoots?

Once I get to the studio, I turn on the lights, pick some fun music, put away any clean lingerie and sheets that came back from the cleaner, and just do a general walk-through to make sure the Roomba did a good job the night before. Lastly, I look over the client questionnaire, one last time before the client arrives.

Are there any routines you have that help you get into photographer mode?

Not really, I like to listen to music in the studio pretty loud before the client gets there. What type of music just depends on my mood… but more than likely it has to have swear words and a strong beat!
